What you begin with determines what you get.
To end with the best beef cuts, one must begin with the finest beef. So we begin with the best premium Black Angus cattle, birthed and raised on pristine pastures, then corn finished 120 days on our ranch near Sterling, Colorado. The corn adds a special tenderness and flavor. Critically, we have never added hormones or steroids to unnaturally fatten up these animals. We never will. We guarantee it! That's why we proudly display no added hormones right on our label, certified by the USDA.
NO Hormones!
According to Science News, 80% of all US feedlot cattle are injected with hormones. These are generally one of the three sets of synthetically produced hormones called trenbolone, zeranol, and melengestrol. In recent years, studies have linked some of these hormones to certain cancers, including zeranol to breast cancer, as reported by CBS news and others, saying; "in the lab, researchers at Ohio State University mixed beef from Zeranol-treated cows with human breast cancer cells and saw "significant" cancer cell growth. Zeranol...are estrogens, and ...breast cancer is dependent upon estrogens" (May 20, 2003)
As specialty cattle ranchers, we are ultimately concerned with the health of our customers and our cattle. Our commitment to the highest quality of life for our customers and our fine animals demands the natural healthy choice not to add hormones to our beef.
The Phenomenal Rinse and Chill!
In fact, being attentive to the healthy aspects of consuming high quality beef has brought us to the cutting edge of what is being called a "revolution" in the meat processing industry! Since the most dangerous microbes are concentrated in the blood of an animal at slaughter, the most effective way of eliminating them is to remove the blood itself. Until recent years there has been no effective means of removing the blood residue left in the animal's vascular system. But now there is a new technology called "rinse and chill", which flushes the animal's natural vascular system with a pH controlled solution that rinses away the blood residue, an essential requirement for microbes to flourish, thus impeding future contamination as well as immediately present microbes.
Not only does this improve meat safety considerably, but it also improves taste and tenderness. "Rinse & Chill reduces bacterial contamination, while extending shelf life, improving color, palatability and tenderness," from "Revolutionizing the Meat Processing Industry".
Caution! Not all "aging" of beef is the same!
Taste and tenderness is also a product of aging the beef. But, not all beef is aged the same way, and the difference is critical to a steak's taste, juiciness and tender cut. Two different processes are used to age beef. The first is called "wet" aging, used by most processors that age their beef. In this process, a cut of beef is aged in a plastic air-sealed "bag". This results in a breaking down of enzymes in the tissues that render the cut more tender. However, there is very little or not water loss by evaporation, which does not enhance the flavor of the beef.
Our "dry" aging is a process where top grade "choice" cuts and "prime" cuts of premium beef are aged in a strictly controlled environment of temperature, humidity and moisture content, and air circulation. The result is a vastly superior enzyme breakdown resulting in greater tenderness. Water is evaporated out of the beef up to 6% or greater of the carcass weight, which results in a concentration of undiluted flavor, far superior to wet aging. All Front Range beef is dry aged to perfection! Front Range Natural Meats proudly "dry" ages our beef 18 - 21 days to achieve maximum flavor and tenderness. In taste and tenderness comparisons, many persons even prefer dry-aged premium "choice" grade steaks over the more fatty "prime" steaks which are not dry aged. Besides a superior grade of taste and tenderness, the reduced fat content makes Front Range premium choice cuts more healthy in every way for you and your family. The rinse and chill process coupled with dry aging renders a cut of beef to be consistently bursting with flavor, tender and juicy to the cut.

Natural
means “minimally processed with no artificial ingredients.”
At Front Range Natural Meats we go above and beyond the USDA’s
requirements for natural beef. From birth, all of our cattle
are tagged for traceability, and have NEVER been given any
added hormones or steroids. Every label on every package of
meat we sell has the claim: “No Added Hormones, No Added
Steroids” It’s not a claim every company can make.
So, as you shop around for beef remember, just because it
says “All Natural” on the label doesn't mean that
the meat is free of added hormones or steroids. |
